Statistics

This section is pure numbers porn for people that like statistics. The headers total the number of reviews followed by the total number of maps, with a detailed breakdown organized by the number of levels. For example, in the Doom II column, at #32, there are 53 32-level reviews, with 1696 total maps reviewed in that format. Any rows you see missing are purely absent for brevity; there are no reviews that feature that number of maps. For a major breakdown, there are 580 reviews, 4864 maps, and 676 authors. That's
  • ~8.5 maps per review
  • ~7 maps per author
  • ~1.2 authors per review
Incidentally, of the 676 authors listed, roughly 75% have given their real names (493). The other 183 authors are known only by their aliases.

LIES AND DAMNED LIES

  1. Check the number of Doom II wads and the number of Doom II maps by adding the numbers in each column to prove the totals are wrong.

    1. how wrong are the totals, exactly? I check them maybe twice a year or so and usually have to adjust but at this point i'd be surprised if I was off by any more than 100 levels. since you had enough time to check the table, surely you have enough time to do an independant assessment using the review index, which should be the absolute record of the pwads i have reviewed.

    2. after re-assessing statistics based on the index, the totals should be correct. it looks like i had two more reviews - and two more maps - than there actually are.

  2. On every wad in the reviews page, can you display the date in mm/dd/yyyy form?

    1. i think that will clutter up the review index but I am amenable to creating an alternate index on a different page that's arranged in mm/dd/yyyy format, a review index by doom history timeline if you will, tho i admit that with the vast public betas we are having it sort of breaks down in more recent years

  3. Can you make a timeline page arranged in mm/dd/yyyy format sometimes?

    1. I am working on this in my free-but-can't-play-doom time and while it will be An Undertaking it is more a question of time involved rather than any sort of difficulty.
