Martin Hunsager and Anders Johnsen - who you might recognize as being a lot of if not most of the driving force behind Alien Vendetta - are playing through WADs in coop and documenting their opinions. Together, as The Pink Bull, they've got a bucketload of interesting opinions, especially since they've actually spent a lot of time within the editor, among other things. Read up here.
It's a good idea for a blog, but they do over-criticize some things in general. Scythe and Mapgame would be perfect examples of this.
ReplyDeleteIn the case of Scythe, it appears they didn't like how short most of it was, alongside general lack of a real challenge for the first half, especially in coop. At the very least, they didn't dislike it.
DeleteInteresting. The more Doom-related content out there, the better. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing the link / info.
sure thing!
DeleteThank you for recommending the site KMX, and I'd like to take the opportunity to also thank you for your constant flow of interesting and solid reviews, you must be the most prolific review writer the community have seen. I recall being very excited about reading your thoughts on Alien Vendetta back in the day.
ReplyDeleteWe do run a hard scoring line with the reviews on our blog, but we do try to point out the good as well as the bad, and differing opinions are interesting and appreciated. And just to have it said, I would absolutely go hard on Alien Vendetta if I was to pick at its numerous flaws and do a review, and there is a lot of stuff I would have done different now than 16 years ago :)

i wouldn't expect any less! the task of the reviewer is not to provide a critical consensus; that is left to the reader concerned with the average opinion.
Deleteyou are welcome for the reviews, and thank you for the maps. without the user community, this blog would have no reason for being.
